Rinaldo Stefan

Rinaldo is a solution focused Project Executive with ~25 years domestic and international management experience covering Engineering, Procurement, and Construction activities in mining, oil & gas and environmental projects, working for major Industrial, as well as Engineering and Construction companies. He is experienced in the development of industrial facilities with significant infrastructure components, various degrees of complexity and sizes up to mega-projects through all project phases.

Having worked for both the owner and contractor, Rinaldo has a balanced view in the performance of construction  activities and dealt with numerous contractual disputes. Either as owner or as contractor (EPCM role) he always maintained an open view on disputed items, managed disputes coherently based on contractual obligations and fairness towards the cause and effect of various changes.

Rinaldo started his career as an engineer with Stone & Webster Canada. In 2000 he transitioned to project management working for Inco/Vale in senior roles such as Senior Project Manager Asia managing the project portfolio in China, Korea and Japan and Project Director of the +$4B Long Harbour Nickel Processing Facility in Newfoundland. He later joined SNC-Lavalin leading the +$10B BHP-Billiton Potash Platform (Jansen and Young projects) in Saskatchewan.

Further to these positions, Rinaldo founded Strategic Capital Projects Solutions, providing advisory and consulting services to a number of clients engaged in development projects of +$1B with mandates including Vice President Projects for Baffinland Iron Mines and Chief Operating Officer for Maritime Iron. Rinaldo also provided litigation support on disputes for various clients.

Project commercial and management experience include:

-        engineering projects with high complexity;

-        heavy industrial construction;

-        construction site establishment and temporary facilities;

-        infrastructure development including roads, power supply, bridges, ports and rail;

-        buildings including offices, laboratory, warehouses and accommodation complexes;

       -        execution in remote / arctic locations under various labour relations structures.
